How man and van rubbish collection works

Three steps, and we do the heavy part:

1. Send a photo or call. WhatsApp a picture of the pile, or ring and describe it — you get a fixed price back, not a vague "from" figure. No site visit for most jobs.

1. We arrive and load it. The two-man team carries everything out from wherever it sits — top-floor flat, back garden, loft, kerbside. You point, we lift.

1. It goes to a licensed transfer station, and you get the paperwork. Your waste is sorted, recycled and disposed of legally at permitted sites, and you're handed a waste transfer note — proof it was dealt with properly.

Prices: pay for the space you fill

A few items carry a surcharge because they cost more to process, and we flag it up front: fridges and freezers (regulated coolants), mattresses (a separate recycling stream), plasterboard (kept separate) and paint (liquid paint can't go to landfill). One rule worth knowing: waste upholstered seating — sofas and armchairs — contains flame-retardant chemicals (POPs) and by law must be kept separate and incinerated, not landfilled or recycled (gov.uk guidance). We handle that. Mattresses aren't covered by that rule — they go through a different stream.

Licensed waste carriers — why it protects you

Here's the part cheap operators hope you won't ask about. We're registered with the Environment Agency as an upper-tier waste carrier and give you a waste transfer note for every job — ask for our registration number and check it yourself on the Environment Agency's public register (or call the EA on 03708 506 506). That's not red tape — it's your protection.

Under the Environmental Protection Act 1990 (section 34), your householder duty of care means passing your waste only to someone authorised to take it (gov.uk duty of care code). If a cut-price unlicensed van fly-tips your rubbish and it's traced back to you, you face a fixed-penalty notice of up to £600 (gov.uk FPN guidance).

Not a rare risk: fly-tipping in England reached 1.26 million incidents in 2024/25 — a fifth successive annual rise, 62% of it household waste (gov.uk statistics) — exactly the load a dodgy van dumps.
